The Head Office in Niagara Falls, Ontario is looking for a skilled, motivated, and goal-oriented Talent Acquisition Specialist to join the Human Resources team.

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for recruitment and selection activities for all divisions of the Company.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides support to the HR Manager to develop, interpret and monitor recruitment policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure these are regularly updated, implemented and communicated effectively
  • Provides hands-on consultative service and expertise to facilitate the efficient recruitment and selection of high caliber, qualified employees across the business
  • Works with management to determine strategies for attracting and retaining the best industry talent both domestically and internationally
  • Assists with work permit applications and LMIAs as needed
  • Sources qualified candidates through cost-effective efforts utilizing the internet, direct searches, referrals, advertising, social media, search firms and other approved recruitment techniques as may be required
  • Generates new hire requisitions, obtains necessary approvals and prepares appropriate internal and external job postings and advertising
  • Creates and posts jobs to the Applicant Tracking System, reviews resume submissions and ensures they are forwarded to the appropriate hiring managers for review in a timely manner
  • Utilizes the document management system to share resumes and recruitment-related documentation
  • Creates and reviews job descriptions, obtains approval as to content and maintain job description database as required
  • Conducts candidate prescreens with supporting documentation
  • Coordinates and participates in the interviewing of candidates
  • Liaises with external recruitment sources when appropriate (i.e. recruitment agencies, colleges/universities, etc.)
  • Conducts reference checks and background checks
  • Organizes, coordinates and attends career fairs and information sessions
  • Leads summer student and apprenticeship recruitment initiatives
  • May assist with the preparation of offers of employment, as needed
  • May help to coordinate and arrange for orientation of new hires
  • Prepares recruitment analysis and metrics for senior management
  • Travel to other offices and locations across Ontario will be required

KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree, preferably in business with a specialization in Human Resources and/or College diploma from a recognized Human Resource Management program
  • CHRP or CHRL designation preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Comprehensive working knowledge of federally and provincially legislated employment and recruitment practices
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the requisite legislation affecting recruitment particularly employment
  • 5+ years of professional-level recruitment experience preferred
  • Previous experience using an HRIS or ATS system preferred
  • Recruitment experience in a Construction/Engineering/Nuclear environment would be a definite asset
  • Proven ability to establish effective relationships with employees, managers and external partners
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to handle multiple and complex issues simultaneously
  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience in direct sourcing and strategic recruitment strategies.
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to deal effectively with a broad range of people, inside and outside the organization
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to be detail oriented while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to set and adjust priorities to meet simultaneous needs.
  • Ability to work with and lead individuals and groups on a variety of staffing practices
  • Valid drivers license
