The Tiverton, ON site is looking for a dedicated, results-oriented and professional Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team.

SUMMARY OF ROLE

The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator will be responsible for implementing, monitoring and enforcing the Company Health and Safety policies and programs, ensuring safe working procedures and regulatory compliance on company work sites and facilities.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implements and oversees site safety program through continuous on-site monitoring during field execution
  • Liaises with management and labour to ensure that the highest level of due diligence is maintained
  • Provides counsel and advice to Company management on all health and safety-related matters
  • Coordinates and attends on-site health and safety (H&S) meetings
  • Provides site H&S training, indoctrination, orientation to employees
  • Provides WHMIS training
  • May Chair or Co-Chair Health & Safety Committee
  • Thoroughly investigates lost time accidents/incidents and H&S related complaints
  • Generates H&S statistics and provides regular reports in a prescribed format, to the Environmental Health and Safety Manager, Nuclear Services
  • Performs weekly documented site inspections and monthly safety audits
  • Maintains daily/weekly/monthly work activity logbooks
  • Maintains safety records and documents
  • Maintains record of all safety and site information used to provide statistics, charts, reports etc.
  • Ensures compliance with OHSA and all other relevant H&S related legislation and regulations
  • Ensures management remains aware of any potential H&S related issues that may negatively impact the business
  • Works with management and employees to develop and implement appropriate return to work and modified work programs
  • Maintains zero tolerance for on the job safety infractions
  • Ensures responsibilities and accountabilities are carried out in a safe manner in accordance with E.S. Fox Limited safety policy/procedures, ISO standards and OHSA requirements
  • Ensures that environmental aspects within their sphere of responsibility are adhered to pursuant to ISO 14001 requirements
  • H&S practices, policies, and procedures are diligently communicated and adhered to
  • Ensuring high percentage of Return to Modified work
  • Zero lost time accidents
  • Some travel between project sites may be required
  • Ability to work afternoon/night shifts, and weekends, as required

KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Post secondary education (Degree in Management or Occupational Health & Safety) is recommended
  • CSAO certification by the Province of Ontario
  • CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation preferred
  • Certified H&S Trainer
  • Current knowledge of OHSA, WSIB, Construction and Industrial Safety Regulations
  • Current CPR and Standard First Aid training certification
  • WHMIS, Working at Heights, Lock-Out/Tag-Out, Confined Space and TDG training
  • Orange Badge training is an asset

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE OR SKILLS

  • 5+ years of direct safety supervisory experience
  • Related experience working in a H&S role in a construction environment
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience working with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Experience in developing and monitoring modified work or light duty programs
  • Demonstrated experience in working with WSIB adjudicators
  • Intermediate skill level working with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Nuclear Generating Station experience is preferred
  • Subject to security background check. Current valid security clearance is an asset
