The Head Office in Niagara Falls, ON is looking for a thorough, detail-oriented and professional Corporate Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator (COR,ISO) to join the Corporate Environmental Health and Safety Team.

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Corporate Environmental Health and Safety Manager, the Corporate Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining, monitoring and ensuring ongoing compliance with the ISO 14001/45001 Management System and Certificate of Recognition (COR). The environmental health and safety management system is an established and mature system, and the successful candidate will be trained, mentored and coached on the management system requirements.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor and maintain compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Management Systems.
  • Assist/Conduct Internal ISO Audits and development of Corrective Actions.
  • Assist in maintaining our Certificate of Recognition (COR).
  • Assist in preparing the company for COR audits.
  • Provide Health and Safety training, indoctrination, and orientation to employees.
  • Develop safety training programs and E,H&S procedures, as needed.
  • Participate in JHSC Meetings.
  • Assist in the development of Lessons Learned documentation and toolbox talks.
  • Assist or lead investigations, as directed.
  • Ensure compliance with OHSA and other relevant H&S related legislation and regulations.
  • Communicate with and provide advice to E,H&S Manager on safety related matters.
  • Ensure responsibilities and accountabilities are carried out in a safe manner in accordance with E.S. Fox Limited safety policy/procedures, ISO 45001 standards and OHSA requirements.
  • Assist with Excellence Group requirements, as directed.
  • Assist with the development of Site Specific Safety/Environmental Plan (SSSP/SSEP).
  • Assist with Pre-Qualification Questionnaires as required.

KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Community College diploma in Occupational Health & Safety Technology, or the equivalent
  • Working knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 Management Systems
  • Working knowledge of the COR certification process and compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Legislation, and applicable codes or regulations.
  • Training and experience in health, safety, and/or environmental auditing
  • Certificate of Recognition (COR) certificates of training
  • NCSO, CRSP or CHSC certifications an asset

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in Environmental, Health and Safety
  • Experience with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and COR requirements
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to recognize trends and patterns in reports generated
  • Strong information-gathering skills
  • Excellent analytical problem-solving skills including the ability to evaluate case information
  • Demonstrated report-writing skills
  • Superior ability to communicate professionally and effectively with internal and external clients, at various levels, in both group and one-on-one settings, both verbally and in writing.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft (Word, Excel, Access and Power Point)
  • Superior organization and time management skills and keen attention to details are essential
  • Strong interpersonal and active listening skills with the ability to understand and assess information
