The Port Robinson, ON office is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and goal-oriented 3rd or 4th year Engineering Co-op Student to join the Corporate Engineering team beginning in May 2023.

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Corporate Director of Engineering, the Co-op Student will prepare and deliver drawings and designs specific to project documents and requirements (relating to their engineering discipline) using computer aided design (CAD) software, including the development of files based on notes, sketches, engineering schematics/drawings, technical guides, vendor information and such other appropriate sources to meet project/product specifications.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Produce 2D and 3D AutoCAD drawings (proficient in the use of paper and model space) in a timely and accurate fashion which may include duties involving artwork and other graphical elements.
  • Consult sketches, notes, schematics, guides and other documentation to create detailed drawings.
  • Create product design drawings, packaging specifications, facility layout, topographical design and other models as required.
  • Follow established CAD standards in regards to layering, dimensioning, text annotations and other aspects of CAD usage.
  • Review of existing CAD drawings and designs to ensure adherences to established specifications and standards.
  • Edit, rework and update CAD drawing files as required by product changes.
  • Preparation of engineering designs (by use of ESFL software and by use of hand calculations-manual means), based on inputs provided and using established Engineering codes and standards.

KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Enrolled in a College or University Engineering Program
  • In depth knowledge of Microsoft Office

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Experience in preparing technical reports and/or engineering design reports, with the ability to apply engineering principles in real life scenarios
  • Proficient in CAD design, by use of AutoCAD; operation of other CAD software is an asset
  • Strong technical and trouble shooting skills
  • Ability to apply engineering principles related to the students specific discipline
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve and deliver required results on a timely basis
