The Niagara Falls, ON head office is looking for a hardworking, detail-oriented and professional Systems Administrator to join our Information Technology team. Please note that this is an office-based position.

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:

The Systems Administrator responsibilities will focus on the support, analysis, design, development, implementation and securing of IT servers, networks and storage. In addition to project related work, this position also serves as backline support for infrastructure related end user technical issues escalated from the Helpdesk.


KEY CUSTOMERS SERVED:

  • All E.S. Fox Limited computer users
  • E.S. Fox Limited Management, Project Managers and Project (Job Site) Staff

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND/OR SERVICES PROVIDED:

  • Perform daily monitoring of Windows servers, physical and those running on VMware vSphere, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
  • Repair and recover from hardware and/or OS failures, coordinating with IT Operations Manager
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary
  • Perform routine audits of systems and software
  • Add/remove/update user account information
  • Provide Tier III support per request from tier I/II service desk. Investigate and troubleshoot issues
  • Technical Lead to helpdesk / field technicians
  • Ensure that the network infrastructure is up and running
  • Manage firewalls and proactively support all incoming and outbound data communication
  • Ensure all internet access points are managed and proactively supported
  • Design and/or redesign the internal (LAN) networks as required
  • Support the company's data security strategies such as encryption, authentication, spam filtering and access control
  • Report daily status to IT Operations Manager
  • Liaise with vendors and contracted service providers
  • Participate in after-hours and/or weekend patching, maintenance, problem resolution as needed
  • Occasional travel may be required

KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 6 years of work experience in IT infrastructure
  • Bachelor in Computer Science or related field; a combination of other education and experience will also be considered
  • Post-graduate degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred
  • Related certification(s)
  • Knowledge of HP networking equipment an asset
  • Knowledge of Avaya Phone and VOIP systems an asset
  • Knowledge of SAN (Storage Area Network) systems

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Experience in a multi-location environment preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain server hardware, software, and network equipment
  • Effective troubleshooting of hardware, software, network issues
  • Windows 2008/2012/2016 Server Security, backup solutions, disaster recovery
  • Install, configure, upgrade and patch Windows operating environments
  • Microsoft Exchange 2013+
  • VMware ESXi administration
  • Execute system performance, monitoring and tuning tools to proactively monitor enterprise systems
  • Active directory implementation, restructuring, and administration
  • Network and system design concepts
  • Creating and maintain firewall rules, routing, DNS, VLAN, QoS, WAN, LAN
  • Encryption, firewalls, SPAM appliances, PROXY appliances and data security principles
  • Layer 2 & 3 Technologies; Routing technologies such as VLAN's and Spanning Tree protocol
  • Experience in development, integration and support of server and network management tools
